My mini-greenhouse has proved to be very helpful this season for raising some early seedlings and giving young plants a bit of a boost. However, it has also provided quite an attractive feeding ground for some rather irritating garden fiends, otherwise known as slugs. For this reason - and in addition to multiple beer traps - I regularly clean out all the pots and remove any slimy offenders hiding under pots and module trays. This weekend to my surprise I found that there were some new inhabitants of said greenhouse, Mr and Mrs Toad. They were both looking healthy, probably after feasting on an abundance of slugs.
To encourage cuddly little amphibians into your garden try setting up a small pond. If this is not an option you can try and entice some into your garden by making sure there are lots of damp places where frogs and toads can find shelter and hibernate.
